Burmease Teak Pegu
Quality handmade ballpoint twist pen handmade in Burmese old growth Teak. The pen features Platinum coloured fittings which perfectly compliment the wood.
The wood featured in this pen is Teak recovered from the wreck of Steamship Pegu.
On July 8th, 1917, Pegu, on a voyage from Rangoon to Liverpool, was sunk by the German submarine U-57 (Carl-Siegfried Ritter von Georg), 7 miles southeast of Galley Head. 1 person was lost. PEGU's cargo included Burmese teak destined for the fortification of gun emplacements in WW1 France/Belgium and attempts to raise some of these (allegedly for the burned "Cutty Sark") was attempted in 2011.
The pen accepts standard cross type refills which are widely available. It will be shipped in the case pictured, along with a small certificate giving details of the wood.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
